The Village of Islington BIA

The award winning Village of Islington BIA established in 1986 is a not-for-profit Business Improvement Area organization with a volunteer board comprised of local business owners just like you. We represent over 200 businesses in a defined area within the Village of Islington. Our goal is to make the Village of Islington a desirable place to “Shop. Work. Live.Play.” We do this through streetscape improvements, community events (including the Village of Islington Doors Open Trolley Tours and year round mural tours), social media marketing, business development/education opportunities and much more. As Toronto’s Village of Murals, we have created a historic artwalk featuring 28 murals and 15,000 square feet of mural art.

All BIAs in the City of Toronto are funded through a special line item on your or your landlord’s property tax bill.

Who is a Member?

Anyone operating a business within the BIA boundaries in a commercial building is automatically a member of the BIA, along with the commercial property’s landlord.

Volunteering

The BIA is always looking for volunteers! If you’re interested in volunteering or becoming a Tour Guide for our Mural walks, please contact us to learn more!
